And nothing in the original post said anything about making it artificially difficult
The suggestion the professor received was to make it as challenging as his other classes. I would think any good professor would teach all his classes at a similar level. I would assume the counsel is similarly given to all professors of other disciplines who pick up a religion class - not to treat it as a freebie, but to teach it just as you would anything else.
