25 years ago there was simply too much variance in difficulty
One class would have a professor requiring a 1000 pages of extra reading and tests that would yield true bell curves, the next would treat it like an easy A seminary class you never had to study for.

IMO, any religion class that isn’t reasonably easy should be flagged as such so only have those students who want that experience enroll. They should all require some work, but most should be on the easier end of the spectrum for 2 credit hour classes.
