No way - BYU’s first choice was a decent Mangum but he underperformed. Wilson
was the “first choice” in the same way that Utah would rather play a healthy backup than an injured starter. Yeah, BYU had more time to prep for the change than a sudden injury would provide but Wilson was their second choice that started due to an emergency promotion.

It’s like if Conley for the Jazz totally sucks it up this year and gets traded half way through the season. Is the Jazz playing the backup PG better than if Conley was just injured part way through the season?
