Rivals isn’t worth paying attention to other than their top 100 recruits...
they don’t do a bit of homework on anyone else.

Example. As my son was being recruited last year the 247 guys came to games, watched him, watched his film, called him, interviewed him, kept track of the schools recruiting him, and did an honest evaluation on him.

He didn’t get to play until his Sr year and because he played baseball he didn’t attend the spring football camps and was basically unknown.

But 247 paid attention early because right off the bar he started putting up huge stats in Utah’s highest classification. And toward the end of the season they put out a ranking on him, 3 stars, highest ranked qb in the state by a wide margin, 8.3 numerical ranking, #9 recruit in the state.

But still no ranking from rivals, not even a profile. In late January he committed to Hawaii. One week later rivals had a profile and ranking on him. 2 star, barely even any mention of anything he did, basically he committed to an fbs school so they hurried and made a profile and threw a meaningless and completely unevaluated ranking on him. They never once talked to him, never saw him play, they did nothing to justify the ranking at all.

And of course that dragged his composite ranking on 247 down to in the 30’s in the state and below two other QBs one of which didn’t even get a single college scholarship offer at any level.

But the 247 ranking remained high.

But it tells you how worthless rivals rankings really are, other than for the top hundred or so kids in the country they do not do any homework at all. It’s a sham. They should not in anyway be considered when evaluating BYU’s recruiting ranking.
