So, I do get, and agree with Criddles condemnation fo the ex in-laws, but...
he was the one who did the deed. He screwed up, opening himself, and BYU, up to the issues they now face. If not the ex-in-laws, who's to say it wouldn't have been someone else?

Were they, the ex-in-laws, petty, underhanded, vengeful and just plain mean? That's a big, fat Yep! Boo to them for that. I'm sure they'll carry that around like a Scarlet Letter for many, many years in the eyes of most BYU fans. I don't even know who they are, and I'm inclined to dislike them.

Was he dumb as a box of rusty door knobs for doing what he did? That's a bigger, fatter YEP! He is reaping the rewards of his actions. And while we all have to deal with the consequences of our actions, I still feel bad for him because of how he is being made to pay. His ex and her family didn't just want to separate themselves from him, they wanted to force him into his own, personal hell; and WOW, did they ever succeed.

To me, it's about forgiveness. I'll be honest, I have an easier time forgiving a kid (yep, he's a kid) for doing something dumb than I do forgiving a few uncompassionate, just plain mean adults for trying to capitalize on his dumb mistakes to punish him. Divorce is hard enough without this kind of baggage. In the end, I daresay that they've done as much damage to themselves as they have to him. That's how vengeance normally turns out though.
