Maybe one of his issues is that he is attempting to run the program the way he PERCEIVED it to be when he was a player.
Maybe he doesn't know how to reconcile/ combine his perceived ideal from the LaVell era with whatever it takes (coaching/administratively) to be a winning program at the same time.
I respect any coach that mentors players or even declares "football is 5th." I mean, how many BYU players (or the vast majority of college athletes) have a shot at playing their sport professionally? It's slim. So, ya, these kids need to have life perspective outside of the sports.
But, Kalani's job isn't a guidance counselor. His job is to recruit, coach, and win in football.
