Philosophy other than changing the atmosphere to a more open, friendly, relaxed, more “brotherly” atmosphere for lack of a better word. Defensively it was to keep things simple so you don’t overthink and “just play”.. schemes (at least defensively were less complex than a high school system). There was more embracing of BYU’s past, LaVell era, etc. more friendly with players. A lot of the coaches were kind of lighthearted and goofy (Reno) so that changed the mood too. Practices were significantly “easier” without the constant intensity bronco exhibited.
I think this change was pretty clear eve. Publicly. Many on CB championed it because it was the complete opposite of bronco.
