BYU is a very strict religious school with high academic standards <---- Feel free to try and argue this point.

The head coach of BYU has to reflect who the school is. He has to be active LDS and has to be approved by church leadership (Even the OC has to pass through church leadership approval)

The head coach is also a priesthood leader of the team and is expected to make sure LDS players are keeping to their faith.

The head coach is also supposed to insure his team is following the strict Honor Code standards of the school.

... After all of that, the head coach is supposed to win football games.

Kalani is an open, loving, and good-humored person. Its why current players, past players, and recruits love him.

BYU Kalani is what most people see.

Most people don't take the time to look for 'Coach Kalani'. Over the past decade, I've had the chance to be around a handful of P5 and G5 coaches and programs. I've been in locker rooms after wins and losses (I've actually had the opportunity to be around Ute Kalani at RES). Coach Kalani is VERY different than the public BYU Kalani. When he yells and gets mad, you can feel it. When things get thrown around and a tirade of non-HC-friend words start being aimed at players due to mistakes you can tell the impact is has.

It's easy to overlook the true 'Coach Kalani' because he has to be BYU's Head Coach. (No other HC has the job of yelling at players for not wearing their garments).

but I will tell you this... Other programs and coaches have massive respect for Kalani. BYU fans probably won't give him the respect he deserves until he's on the other side of the field with another team that doesn't have BYU's restrictions.
