Yea it is tough road. You want to do everything you can to protect them.
But at the same time allowing them to grow up and learn to make decisions on their own.

It is interesting that the church has just recently changed from tablets to phones for missionaries. I think there were a lot of missionaries going home from anxiety from not having a phone.

Some days I want to throw them in the garbage, and others it is nice they have them when they are gone and we can get ahold of them. Or for my seminary student they ask them to bring some kind of electronic device.

When we taught SS at first we tried to make sure kids were not on games and things, but also realized that we were not the parents and could not control what each kid did.

My wife and I are right now talking about limiting time the kids can be on the phones. Our problems are kids just sitting there binging on YouTube or Netflix.

I would do what you feel is best, and pray for guidance. Each kid is different and sometimes that is hard to remember that one might need more help or restrictions than the others.

Good luck
