In general I agree with you. But some kids are going to just fine without
having worked a real job. My daughter at the Y right now has never had a real job. But she has had a ton of leadership roles in extra curriculars and is extremely focused on getting good grades. I think she probably studies 5-6 hours a day outside of class. She has a full tuition scholarship that she needs to keep a 3.5 for so she's contributing more money keeping that than she would working PT in college. She is planning on getting her first job when she comes home before heading out on her mission in the fall. I think she'll do great.
