People are always like this. Look at attitudes within the church about the age of the earth, for example. There are still plenty of old school members who think the earth is 6,000 years old, and are willing to dismiss any and all evidence that indicates its true age. For those of us who a.) believe the experts, and b.) see no reason why the earth needs to be literally 6,000 years old for theological reasons, this dismissal of experts is baffling.

Or consider sports. How is it that fans of both teams see clear evidence that the refs are biased against them?
