THIS^ Hospitals in my state are near empty and they are laying off nurses

There are far more hospitals in this situation than those feeling an increased burden from Covid19, this may or may not change. Seems like rather than a full shutdown, it would make more sense to spend a fraction of what the shutdown costs to make sure hospitals are absolutley ready for any amount of influx. We just spent 2 trillion and theres more to come and it will cost a staggering amount more in cumulative personal losses, even with all that we still may be looking at depression level consequences or worse. We could have hospitals fully ready for far less than that and it wouldn't require us to drive the country off a cliff. There would be other factors to consider, obviously, like measures to protect the at risk. It just seems like there has to be a better way to handle this because what we've chosen is so bad.
