You can't expect to keep everyone safe until there is a vaccination. That is just not realistic. We can at least ensure that our medical system is capable of giving sufficient medical medical care to serve the community. I think that is a fair trade off. The problem is that few people even attempt to make that argument in any sort of a cogent way. They are too busy comparing comparing COVID to the flu, which is a waste of time, calories, and brain capacity. Your post focuses on the right issues.
