Here is my take on our athleticism...
Good Athletes:
Baxter
George
Erickson
Barcello
Harding
Johnson
Average Athletes:
Haarms
Wade
Below Average Athletes:
Lowell
Harward
Knell
Lee
I see us using Harward and Lee at the 5 position, Haarms, Baxter, George and Lowell at the 4 position, Harding, Johnson, George, Knell and Baxter at the 3 position, Wade, Harding, Johnson and Erickson at the 2 position and Barcello, Wade and Erickson at the 1 position.
My Starters would be as follows:
Harward at the 5 (backed up in order by: Lee, Haarms and Baxter)
Haarms at the 4 (backed up in order by: Baxter, George and Lowell)
Harding at the 3 (backed up in order by: Johnson, Knell and George)
Johnson at the 2 (backed up in order by: Wade, Harding and Erickson)
Barcello at the 1 (backed up in order by: Wade and Erickson)
I think Lowell will have a hard time defending anyone at the 4 or the 3 at the D1 level and will have to be a situational sub when we are deploying a 2/3 or a 1/3/1 zone. I also think Knell will not be able to defend a 2 at the D1 level and will be limited to playing the 3 position only.
I believe that each of these five starters will average around 10 points per game, with a different player as the leading scorer depending on matchups and game flow. I am projecting Haarms to end up as our leading overall scorer for the year at somewhere between 10 and 16 points per game (as long as he is healthy). I also believe that Lee, Baxter and Wade will all be solid scoring contributors off of the bench.
I think that this is a NCAA tournament team and with the addition of a solid (starting) point guard, this team can challange Gonzaga for the league and WCC Tournament Titles.
I'm all-in on this team in 2020-2021.
