Pick a position: FB-only or all sports? old deal or new deal? 12-yr avg vs. '20?
What is known?

1) the BYU AD's 2019 travel costs outweighed broadcast revenue under its prior contract
2) AAC signed a 12-year deal for all sports
3) UConn was so impressed by the deal that they chose to become an independent
4) BYU's alumni base is heavily concentrated in the Utah/WCC/P12 footprint

Your guesses: every single fact about the AAC's new deal outside the 12-year duration. Financial terms were undisclosed. The highest purported number is $1B over 12 years. Even then, you don't think the early years are heavily discounted relative to the '30-32 payouts? ESPN undoubtedly retained some flexibility on its cost structure based on actual AAC ratings/revenue and certainly renegotiated terms down when UConn bailed.

You then compared the AAC's unknown '20 value against BYU's deal from 2010 even though BYU renegotiated after the newest AAC deal. AAC got a raise but BYU didn't?

You then proposed a red herring that BYU could get a full revenue share of the AAC's new all-sports deal. Men's basketball is huge for many of the AAC programs and they would not have gifted that for a football-only BYU. Your assumption is convenient to take travel costs out of the equation because moving all sports to the AAC is financially & logistically infeasible (not sure there are any direct flights from SLC to most AAC host cities; busing is completely off the table).

You completely ignored fan access and the corresponding impact to BYU's other sources of revenue: ticket sales, corporate sponsorships, donors and sports camps. Today, BYU's teams largely compete within the geographic concentration of its alumni base, i.e. primarily in the Utah/WCC/P12 footprint with occasional trips/competitions to its extended fan base. Those fan's have access to much of BYU's athletic program is now on either basic cable or BYUtv. Coverage under the AAC would be relegated to ESPN+ (paywall) the prospect of which pushed UConn out of the conference altogether.
