Japan is, like most countries, in the midst of a Covid resurgence. Infections have doubled, in the past two weeks and hospital are strained to their limits. Vaccine distribution has been, again like most countries, well below projections.

The former head of the London Olympics believed that the games will not be held and that Tokyo will wait to the last minute before announcing a cancellation.
