Well my OP actually was not really political at all. I think a lot the stresses
the country faces right now are due to the pandemic. It has people on edge. The Olympics are a good opportunity to remind us what we’re proud of, and we want our country/athletes to win, especially when it comes to nation we don’t much in common with. It’s also at a time when we could theoretically have the pandemic mostly behind us. Others turned it into a political conversation.
