Does it though? There’s a difference between supporting and fandom.
I will support my kid wherever they choose to go, even if it’s Utah. *gasp*
But that doesn’t mean I’d throw out all of my blue gear and start buying Utah red, unless they were going inside scholarship for athletics. At that point I would understand switching allegiances because you actually have someone to cheer and support in an athletic competition and wearing a rivals gear to your child’s games wouldn’t make sense.
There just seems to be more to the story than was mentioned. On the surface though it’s just weird to me.
