With all due respect to his spectacular 2020 season, ZW is not one of the top-four QBs in BYU history. I think many of you may have 2020 goggles on. I agree that the conversation gets pretty muddled after the big three (McMahon, Detmer and Young), but I would put Hall, Bosco, Beck and M. Wilson above Zach in the list of QB greats.
Zach was a tremendous player, and incredibly efficient. No doubt about it. And again, his 2020 season was one for the books. He was stellar. He has a gift. And nobody can argue with the many evaluations by NFL scouts and experts.
However, since we're talking about all-time great BYU QBs here, you can't ignore the fact that Zach holds no records, didn't win any major awards, was never an all-American, didn't win as many games, didn't put up as big of numbers, and so on.
NFL consideration or potential, for me, holds very little weight in a discussion about BYU's all-time great QBs.
And all I'm trying to do by writing this is elevate some of our past greats. I'm not trying to tear down Zach in any way.
