San Jose State was the conference champion and for the record they played Ball State in the ever so prestigious Arizona Bowl. That lucrative bowl game pays out $350,000. The bowl game BYU played in last year, the Boca Raton Bowl game, pays out $900,000.
Oh, you want to talk another conference? The conference USA champ, Marshall, played in the Camellia bowl with a payout of a whopping $300,000. Again, no thanks.
The sunbelt conference champ, Coastal Carolina (the same team that beat us) had the great honor of playing in the FBC Mortgage Cure bowl which has a payout of $570,000.
The only non P5 team to play in a prestigious bowl was Cincinnati, and they played in the Peach Bowl. And had BYU been in a G5 conference, there's no way we would have been selected for that bowl game over Cincy.
This is such a tired and false argument that people keep making about the need to go to a G5 conference to give us access to better bowl games. Can we let this die?
