Looking over the last ten years they have better records against similar quality
It's true that UCF was worse before that. It's also true that BYU has played more high echelon P5 teams. But that's because they've played more P5 in general, so they've also played more bad P5 opponents. The ratio of good to mediocre P5 opponents is about the same.

You cannot. No G5 team has ever played more than 3 P5 teams in a season. And 3 P5 games have only happened a few times
