If we could legitimately get 8 P5s every year, I'd be a huge proponent of staying independent. The reality is that's just not the case
2016 had 6
2017 had 4
2018 had 5
2019 had 4
2020 had 7
2021 has 7
2022 has 4 (1 spot open)
2023 has 4 (0 spots open)
2024 has 2 (2 spots open)
2020 (pre-COVID) and 2021 were/are great schedules, but it's not looking like it's a continuing change. Over the 3 years after that we're going back to the 3-5 P5 opponent type of schedule.
