BYU could have an 8-4 season and get an autobid to the CFP.

BYU would just need to win the conference. BYU won the MWC a few times and likely would win the AAC occasionally.

Not really. BYU is always going to go to a bowl, and outside the NY6 bowls, one is no better than another these days.
