Your interpretation seems to differ from everyone else. Can you share a link?

I haven’t seen anything that clarifies if the ranking is team-based or conference-based. But most seem to assume it is conference-based especially since the bye is dependent on the ranking in question. I think it hardly fair that an 8-4 SEC champ be ranked above a 12-1 B12 champ and get a bye.

Do you see that as feasible?

Not really. BYU is always going to go to a bowl, and outside the NY6 bowls, one is no better than another these days.
