Could this 2021 group be good? Sure. But we don't know.
McChesney hasn't been proven. He had a few carries in garbage time against Idaho State and a blowout against UMass in 2019, and a few carries in garbage time against Navy in 2020. That's IT! Rushes in only three games over two seasons (against garbage teams).
Miles Davis isn't proven, either. He saw mop-up duty in four games last year and doesn't even have 100 rushing yards to his name.
Finau showing "glimpses of being a good starter" is not as good as Squally and Algie Brown (who both were actually proven as starters).
Spare me with all the "coaches are high on player x" talk; coaches are rarely negative about their players. Hinckley Ropati is yoked and looks impressive, but we haven't seen him play (due to injury). We have no idea how good he is/isn't.
Again, we just have a lot of bodies in 2021, and that's a far cry from 2016, where we had two former starters - Williams and Brown - and Squally on the roster.
