while trying to find some sort of medicine that would work for me long term. I will say that Ketamine is something that restored hope to me.
I had to convince my doctor (he's older) to let me try to sooner than later. A lot of docs in psychiatry field want to save it as a last ditch type of thing but I heard that could be changing.
My doc has said to me over and over that it's not a good long term solution though because of the cost, time and because Ketamine really doesn't stay in your system for a long period of time. Its effects only last for like 48 hours.
Before finding a good long term solution (lithium) I didn't completely agree with him but now I do.
Ketamine = works well with most people
Esketamine = not that great from most of the stories I have read of people taking it. There's also ketamine lozenges that I've read a number of people state work better than Esketamine. For my Ketamine sessions I have only done Ketamine IM ( inter-muscular) and it has worked fine.
Ketamine is a fun / pleasant experience for sure. I'd imagine if most people had a Ketamine experience they'd want to do it regularly. It's not addictive but the experience is so unique that it makes you want to do it again.
I'm not dying to do it again but I would like to do the it again even though I'm not struggling a ton right now.
I haven't really heard much in terms of side-effects (there can be bladder issues but that's only for heavy ketamine users).
There's a recovery time period afterwards ( which is why you have to have someone drive you after your appointment ).
Anyhow..if you have questions about it I can try and answer anything further or point you to a group that probably could answer your questions.
