Finally some validation. We have an NP in our clinic that orders them like crazy. I’ve had 2 patients come in with them and I fail to see the benefit.
They usually have 1 or 2 meds that we’d have tried 1st anyway in the “green” column(and in my limited experience has no bearing on the effectiveness of the medicine for the patient). Then every other ssri/snri in the yellow column. I fail to see how it gives any useful info but patients keep clamoring for it and now we have reps coming in and touting it and I thought I’d read a blurb in Jama promoting it a few years ago.
I’ve been feeling like I was seeing the naked emperor for the last year.
