Uhhhh nobody clamored for Stewart over Hill, that was the year We were undefeate
Undefeated and Hill was a Legitimate Heisman contender prior to his year end injury. Nobody really knew who Stewart was prior to him taking over and playing surprisingly well towards the end of the year. I don’t think after Destroying Texas for the second year in a row and looking like a God among Mortals anybody was clamoring for an unknown backup.
You may be thinking of Tanner Mangum during Taysom’s senior year. People were clamoring for him to start after the awesome year he had as a Freshman, and Taysom struggled with accuracy at times and had so so stats. We learned the following year that that was much more related to Detmer’s offense than any shortcomings of Hill.
