Those things scare me. I had a series of surgeries after an accident and was on opiates for a few weeks. I remember a
distinct moment in time having a very real conversation with myself regarding whether or not I wanted to become an addict. It was a conscious thought that I could continue taking the medication and feel really good all the time, or return to reality with responsibilities and pain. I decided that latter but it was honestly 50/50.
I totally get how people get hooked on that stuff and how it can lead nowhere good fast.
