I treat chronic pain

almost exclusively. I sure hate opiates. They create pain receptor up-regulation, so pain; In other words it can make pain WORSE with chronic use. Horrible. Like Slim, I'm totally OK with short-term use after surgery. But in our CHRONIC pain program we get them off those as soon as possible.
