My problem is that it implies taxation in and of itself is immoral.
When a much better statement would be that taxes (at some level) are a necessary evil. That’s just the reality.
Those of us in the middle class pay a lot of taxes. It sucks. There is a huge pull from government to grow. It’s a big danger that most moderates acknowledge. But I’m not going to imply destroying the entire system (which is what getting rid of taxes altogether would do).
