The pool fiasco didn't get Brooks canned- his loyalty to sub par assistants and refusal to fix the issues that hundreds of alumni, coaches and current team members brought up did.
BYU actually had one of their best showings at Olympic Trials. They took a lot of kids, many of whom improved on their placing. Payton Sorenson (alumni) was top 16 in the 50 freestyle.
Everything boils down to this- can the new HC fix the culture? Her swimmers love her. Her main task is to unit the team, Brooks could never do that.
