I feel we have reduced depression/anxiety to just hormone imbalances ...
and this makes the problem worse. Yes, hormones/genes/biology are involved and often these issues are beyond the person's control. But the pendulum has swung too far where people take no control for their mental health. A lot of the mental health epidemic could be eased if people:
1. Slept enough at night
2. exercised daily
3. ate well (no processed food, more fruits/veggies/beans)
4. Prayed or meditated every day
5. Gave service to others (another thing religion helps with, although there are options for the non-religious in their communities).

Those things are research-proven methods of alleviating mental health issues to some degree. We need to emphasize them more.
