We didn't do the exact same things, but they were pretty similar. And as mentioned previously, these are all really great things to suggest for reasons much bigger than mental illness. But they aren't going to eliminate biological mental illness.
We have a son who has a great group of friends, always has a project going, ran with the cross-country team, plays violin, hikes, photography, etc. He has great work skills and is organized and on top of the things that he chooses to do. He can do hard things. However, he suffers greatly from depression and doing all these things have not changed that for him.
