In psychiatry there is the biopsychosocial model
Which in a nutshell states that one has to account for biological factors (hormones, genetics, etc), psychological factors (personality traits, defense mechanisms, etc.) and social factors (family status, relationships, economic factors, etc.). But as a society we've become so reductive that we ignore the psychological and social parts of the equation and just focus on the biological. In practice, we have a "bio-bio-bio" model.
