It's just a logical position change to deal with where left handed hitters tend to drive the ball. A team should be able to place their players anywhere they like, IMO, and there are ways to beat the shift, if batters want to respond.

This - April and Oct/Nov games in NY are often ridiculously cold. Start in May and end is Sept. I'm a fan of the pitch
