going to the grocery store to hitch a ride, since he didn't want to pay for gas to drive himself. Never took girls out on dates that cost anything, dates were ALWAYS just the girl coming over to our house and he'd make dinner and then they'd watch TV. He did end up with a strange, older, European girlfriend somehow and they've been together for years. We worked at the same place too and he wouldn't ever go out to eat for lunch with us unless it was a company-sponsored event and paid for. The only way he'd come with us on an adventure or outing was if he didn't have to share the cost for gas, with one notable exception over the 5 years of him doing a week-long trip with us (I gave him a lot of credit for that). His entire life consisted of wake up, go to work, come back home, occasionally hitch a ride for groceries. That's it.
