100% True. I ran into KC at O'Hare Airport in Chi-town while returning from...
...my mission in England in September of 1974. We were all on the same flight. He was all alone and so I sat with him a while. He looked like a taller more chiseled version of Jeff Goldbloom. Anyway, he loved the gospel. When we sat on the flight, he took a seat behind me on the isle where he could spread his legs. He began chatting with the woman behind my seat next to the window ABOUT THE GOSPEL. The businessman man sitting next to me was on his way home to a divisional headquarters fr his eastern company. He had been living for about 2-3 years in Utah. Noticing my name tag and overhearing KC talk behind us, he looked over and inquired of me how he could learn to understand the Book of Mormon a little better. He lived as I recall in Bountiful and his neighbors who he praised for their kindness were all LDS. I think he had grown up in the upper Midwest, Iowa if my memory serves me. But his inquiry was quite genuine. When he asked me if there was an easier way to understand the Book of Mormon I just immediately thought of how as a child, I first really learned to understand the Bible. Keep in mind, I had only been LDS for about 4 years by the end of my mission and so my childhood introduction to the Lord came through Catholic and Protestant churches.

So when he asked me, I harkened back to what I knew and said, "If I were you, I would go to Deseret Book Store, do you know where that is?"

He said, yes it was part of the same Kennecott Copper Office Building where his company's offices were located.

I then asked if he had children and he said, yes, a boy and a girl. He was clearly a really good man too. I asked how old and they were and my memory says they were pre-teen. So I asked how old he was when he first learned of the Bible, and he said, his mother and father would read him "Bible stories specifically narrated and written for children." So I said, "Why not do the same thing. You can find both bible and Book of Mormon primers with the basics of the stories all written for Children and available at Deseret Book. I explained if you get one of those, the have lots of pictures, and you read a story every night, in a month you'll probably know as much about the Book of Mormon as most people. But you'll also have a really good understanding so that when you actually read the Book of Mormon in full, you'll have a pretty good idea of what's happening."

KC must have overheard us because he leaned over and said to the gentleman, that's a really good idea. To learn as a master you must begin as if a child, line over (upon) line. The man vowed to do just that. But see, here is the thing; that incredible END of my own mission was completely off the cuff and because KC was such an amazing convert and person; plus an ambassador for the Lord. He really was the spark that lit the flame behind the conversation.

It taught me to be bold, far more bold than perhaps I had ever been before or even on my mission.
Would that we were all more like him.
