School today requires access to the internet. We are expected to be accessible 24/7. These things come at a cost that young families have to account for. The housing market is extremely expensive. A three bedroom townhome with no yard goes for over $400k in Utah! So, sure, maybe there is an attitude of excess in the younger generation that increases their cost of living. It is oversimplifying to say the greatest driver of the problem comes from eating out too often or buying unnecessary tech.
