Eyeballs = money bro. Check out Utah total TV ratings vs. CU, ASU and UofA...even the great BYU. I remember
when the MW got their 2nd $5 million check for Utah making the BCS.
When Utah got invited to the P12, BYU fans kept arguing they were worth more because of a few 100k fans.
But...Utah brought more money to the MWC. How do you argue that?
BYU fans argued that they had more fans and that's all that matters. "The only reason why Utah made more money was because they were in a high profile, NY bowl game against Alabama."
Exactly. BYU could play New Mexico ten times and still have fewer viewers than the 1 Utah game. Postseasons and big games matter in sports. Value is created in the millions of viewers not in the tens of thousands.
I don't know that BYU has a viewership total above 4 million this decade. Utah has 8 just in the last 3 full seasons.

It's not writing on the wall. Utah is in a great spot. Either P12 stays together or Utah jumps to Big 12.
