People care about the “higher ideals” of their super academic conference until they don’t.
Tell me why on earth it’s better for USC and UCLA to associate with a conference where the next nearest foe is in Lincoln, Nebraska?

I don’t think these leftovers are going to be all that high minded about academics when they’re staring down the barrel of less money and less exposure than the big 12.
