The focus on research $ is understandable, and fine and dandy. But F/B FANS couldn't care less about academics or the $ schools are amassing for that matter (including BYU's endowment). They just want to watch good football. And that's what I love about the Big 12.
SF, NY etc are currently the hubs for talent. No question about that. But the world is also decentralizing on many fronts. Disruption is a regular occurence. And higher education is not immune. My point is entrenched powers do not always last. By the way, that's one thing I LOVE about Yormark. His focus is on making the BIG 12 the best it can be. He is not distracted by other conferences/comparisions etc.
