My dad's hometown of Maywood, CA (LA area). The story is:
My dad said, "We always go to mom's house (Burbank), so I want to show you where I grew up." We proceed to drive through streets with some of the most run down buildings I'd seen in my life. There are people loitering the streets staring at our green 1973 VW bus with 7 kids in it. When we get to his house... we just do a drive by. Dad says, "That's my house and we're never coming back here again."
