I’ve read it and I agree with many premises
EMDR is nothing more than trumped hypnosis. But, that’s not what kids with depression would need anyway. It’s purported to help with trauma. There’s an older book that is along the same line that talks a bunch about memory insertion and false memories occurring through similar techniques. Again, I said in my post that more than half of folks out there are total hacks. The hope of the previous post was that it sounded like Idacoug was implying all therapy with kids is a bad idea. I don’t agree with that at all. Meds wear off over time for many folks which is why they work best in combination with good sound therapy that teaches how to minimize the negative feelings with mindfulness and good sound thinking strategies and avoiding errors that allow negative thoughts to spin out of control. Trust me I know that there’s a lot of junk out there but if you look a little and ask then there’s good as well. I know that’s one of the theses of the book. 11 is on the cusp of therapy working it just depends on the kid and whether they want to. It’s the old joke of how many therapists does it take to change a lightbulb . . .
