Jamaal might be the most dynamic back BYU has ever had.
Harvey was amazing and I don't want to take anything away from what he accomplished. If he had been able to play a 4th year, his records would be very hard to beat. He was a big guy that lowered his shoulder and could plow you over, but had great change of direction ability for a guy his size. He always fell forward. He was amazing as a receiver out of the backfield (and was used as a RB should in the passing game) and was Mr. consistent. That being said, he did not have great break-away speed.

It might be a little early to say but Jamaal might be the most all-around back ever at BYU. Now I wasn't able to see much of Jamal Willis or Peter Van Valkenburg, but from what I have seen Williams might have the most all-around skillset. Williams is not huge but he consistently drags 3 and 4 guys to get an extra few yards. He has power (maybe not quite as much as Unga) to get that 3rd and 2 in between the tackles. He also has amazing speed. If he gets in the open field he can take it to the house. Every time he touches the ball he could put up 6 points. He can also catch the ball out of the backfield. I don't they he is utilized enough in the pass game on check-down passes. Hopefully we see it this year where Hill dumps it off to Jamaal to get him involved more in the pass.

To top it all off, he has a super dynamic personality. He was immediately a fan favorite and his family has been amazing too. He is entertaining to watch and you can tell he plays with a ton of passion.

If Jamaal has 1200+ yds this year, he will be on the same level as Harvey. Right now, he is great, and I don't think we have seen his full potential in this offense. If he gets 20+ carries a game and stays healthy, I see him approaching 1600 yds this year.
