Bronco is an outsider in this while Whitt became the ultimate Benedict ARnold and dragged a number of former BYU players into it with him.

Bronco doesn't hate Whitt but you can tell Whitt hates Bronco. Max Hall gets the rivalry on the same level that Whitt does and way more than any BYU QB since. Yes, Riley Nelson wanted to win but Max had an extra gear that was fueled by his hatred for the yewts that helped him pull out games with plays like the 4th and 18 or the OT pass to Andrew George despite having terrible games overall. There's a reason why Max is the only BYU QB to have a winning record h2h against the yewts since the Ron McBride era. He's the rare BYU player that has gotten the rivalry like Whitt does.
