Of course I cheered for them in passing because I was LDS, but I never followed the team. I didn't really have strong NCAA allegiances in high school. I grew up in SoCal during the Carson Palmer, Matt Lennart era so I was a USC fan, but I only went to a couple of games. My parents were both Idaho St. alumni so there wasn’t really a college sports tradition in my family (though my dad did play basketball at Ricks for a couple of years before his mission). I’m now a huge BYU fan because I went to school there, but I wonder what would have happened had I gone to a different school. I’m also applying for business school right now so if I end up at a school with big time sports I wonder how that will affect my fandom. Just interesting to think about.
