my only issue with that talk was
“The scornful often accuse prophets of not living in the 21st century or of being bigoted. They attempt to persuade and even pressure the Church into lowering God’s standards to the level of their own inappropriate behavior,"
The Church has come out and said that Brigham Young was bigoted which lead to the policies against the blacks. So maybe some of these non-gospel core teachings aren't necessarily always correct.
Love the church, but when it comes to social issues, I have a hard time ignoring the fact that it's hard to argue against it's prior discrimination. Personally, I think we'll view the gay marriage thing in the same light in 20 years.
Sometimes change enacted by society and not religion is a good thing.
