I love football but I can't agree with these sentiments
There is no better place for young Latter-Day Saints to find a quality spouse and obtain a great education at a modest cost. I loved going to games at BYU and never missed a game except for work. My wife even carries a small grudge because we got engaged on February 17 instead of February 14 (conflict with a basketball game). My experience at BYU consisted of a whole lot more than the ball games. I think this present dark night will pass and we will see things get better on the sports front.
