Hosick won't have three years. If things line up the way that I outline in the table, he'll back up Taysom next year and then play his Junior and Senior years.
Also, we have no evidence on whether or not Tanner Mangum is "soft." He's an Idaho boy--so to me...that means that he's not soft, but otherwise we don't know how things will shake out.
I don't think that you avoid playing someone because of his year. I'm also not a proponent of having people "rot" in the system, BUT I do know that BYU tends to have the most success when there is an upperclassman starting at QB. As such, I think that the time in the system is a valuable instructional tool for some young QBs.
Agreed. Tanner will be a RS Freshman in 2016 (as indicated by my table).
